Help Bella Beat Cancer – Urgent Surgery for My Beloved Service Dog
Hi, my name is JonPaul, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult moments of my life. My lifeline Bella — a Shar-Pei and my registered service animal — has been diagnosed with high-grade mast cell cancer. Her condition is serious and progressing quickly. Surgery is urgently needed to remove two tumors and give her the best chance at survival.
The cost for her surgery and care is $4,700, and I’m humbly asking for your support.
Bella came into my life as a surprise from a friend, and from the start, she’s been more than a pet — she’s my emotional support, my travel companion, and my greatest comfort during tough times. Her presence has been life-changing, helping me manage anxiety and bringing calm during chaos. She's helped me — and many others — simply by being herself.
Bella’s gentle spirit warms every heart she meets. Over the years, she’s helped people overcome their fear of dogs with her calm, kind energy. She absolutely loves children — the sound of their laughter makes her jump with joy. She truly has a gift.
We’ve traveled together through almost all 50 states and even flown to Brazil and back — side by side. United Airlines has always treated her like a first-class passenger (thank you, United!). And now, as she faces her biggest challenge, I’m doing everything I can to give her the same care and dignity.
Bella has two visible tumors — one on the outside of her right rear leg and a smaller one on the inside of her left. The tumor growth is accelerating week over week. While chemotherapy was attempted, it has now been suspended so we can urgently move forward with surgery before the cancer spreads to her lymph nodes.
The incredible team at Total Pet Animal Hospital in Oakland Park, FL has been providing excellent care. But time is not on our side — the longer we wait, the more we risk.
Bella still has so much life and love in her. She continues to comfort me daily and bring peace to everyone around her. Please, if you’re able, consider donating to help save her life. Every dollar brings us one step closer to her recovery. And if you can’t give, sharing this page would mean the world.
Thank you so much for your time, compassion, and support.
With love and gratitude,
JonPaul Kern
