Help Keep Bell at Home with the Care She Deserves
My beloved sister Bell is approaching 91 years old and has lived in the same warm, familiar home for over 60 years. Recently, she has experienced six falls, thankfully without serious injury, and is currently in a short-term rehab facility. It’s clear now that she needs daily assistance to safely return home and continue living independently.
Bell requires a caregiver Monday through Friday to help her with everyday tasks and accompany her to dialysis three times a week. Her only daughter, Michelle, has been her primary caregiver, but due to financial necessity, Michelle must come out of retirement and return to work. While she will continue to care for her mother after hours and on weekends, she cannot be there during the weekdays.
Without support, Bell will have to enter a nursing home, which would cost over $5,000 a month. More importantly, we know that moving her into unfamiliar surroundings would take a heavy toll on her emotionally and physically. Bell’s home is her sanctuary—it holds over six decades of memories, comfort, and stability.
We’ve tried to get help from the State of Michigan, but unfortunately Bell has been denied assistance twice. That’s why we’re reaching out to our community for support.
Your donation will help us hire a compassionate caregiver who can assist Bell throughout the weekdays, ensure she gets to her dialysis appointments safely, and help her stay in the home she knows and loves.
Any amount, big or small, would make a meaningful difference. And if you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Thank you for helping us give Bell the gift of comfort, dignity, and the chance to remain at home.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Barbara ❤️
