Help Belen Stay at CUNY

We are a concerned group of City University (CUNY) students and professors who are raising funds for one of our students being threatened with deportation. Our student, Belen, is a young woman from Central Asia who has been exploited by employers, landlords, and is now required to pay up or leave the country by CUNY administrators. Belen must pay nonresident tuition to remain in the country or return to a place where women’s rights have been taken away since the fall of the Soviet Union and conservative political leaders now control the country. We need $9,000 to assist her with tuition, fees and rent. In addition, we want this to be an on-going effort to defend our CUNY family, and send a message that when it happens to one of us, it happens to all of us. Your donation, whether it is $5 or $500 will make a big difference in the life of one family, while contributing to a larger movement.
