Hi everyone, my name is Ellie and I'm looking for help with raising money to help one of my cats, his name is Beerus. When we first adopted him from a sanctuary, we had no idea he would have any medical conditions. We took him to the vet to get him checked and to make sure all his vaccines were up to date. Everything went well; the only thing they told us was that he had some gingivitis and we just needed to brush his teeth. If anyone has ever tried to brush a cat's teeth, you know some can be very difficult. We got him a special dental paste and a gentle brush for his teeth, as well as an oral spray. They told us he eventually would need a deep dental cleaning that would require him to go under anesthesia and required blood work and X-rays, and they gave us a quote which was something we would not be able to afford. We tried our best over time to take care of his teeth. They told us he could still eat dry food as long as he wasn't in pain. Over time, we started noticing he was eating less and would even have a hard time eating treats, so we switched him to wet food and soft treats. We have 3 other cats, so it's very difficult having to buy both dry food and wet food, but we do our best to get everything we can to make sure they all get what they need, including our 2 dogs. Recently, we were playing with him and he got a hold of a silvervine stick that he used to love chewing on, but when he bit down on it, his back molars broke off. We took him to the vet immediately and they told us he now has periodontal disease and he needs that surgery/cleaning. Only now, it may require teeth extractions. He doesn't eat any dry food at all anymore because we noticed he was struggling and it was painful for him, and he started losing a lot of weight. So now he is strictly on wet food. However, he is only 5 years old and they told us that unfortunately, even though he is still young, he has progressive dental disease and he urgently needs that surgery. They quoted us between 3k to 6k depending on what else they find, and it could possibly be even more than that. We are going to start the process for it, but unfortunately, we had to move and recently lost one of our jobs, so now it's not possible for us to afford it at all. We would really appreciate any help we can receive. We tried getting quotes from other places, but they're all about the same due to the extent of his disease. We take him to Vetco and we really need help to at least start the process to get him help. We hate seeing him in pain and our other cats have noticed he's been in pain and they try to comfort him. He is always hiding or sleeping because of it, and our cats find him and try to keep him comfortable and help groom him. We ask for any help possible. We will attach proof and updates with all the procedures he will have to have done, and if it's possible, we will try to attach information to his vet to see if it's possible to have the money go directly there. We just want him to be happy and stop suffering. Anything helps, even with food for him. He is very picky with the type of wet food he eats; sometimes he refuses to eat, but we finally found wet food from Kahoots that he likes. We've tried so many and he will refuse to eat it. It has been a huge challenge, but we really want to get him the help he needs so he can be pain-free. I have uploaded the most recent quote from February, but they told us it could be more. This would be the initial part, but it can go up if they find anything else.
