Help Beebs’ Heart ❤️

Donation protected
Hi I’m Sarah, one of Beebs’ carers! Beebs (aka BiBi) needs your help!

Beebs has a very rare heart condition and needs to have complex surgery which involves placing a pacemaker into his chest to control his heart beat. For this procedure, he will need to go to a referral centre to have the surgery with a cardiologist. Obviously as this surgery is so complex, it is very expensive and we are asking for any donations to help with this.

Beebs is a special boy! He came to Medivet Hendon as a stray back in 2016 from Cats Protection with a huge wound on his neck- the naughty boy had been fighting with other cats and it took weeks of treatment before his neck wound healed up. By this time, a lot of the team had become quite attached to him and we agreed with Cats Protection that we would adopt him officially! Beebs went from living rough as a street cat to living a life of luxury in the upstairs of the hospital, sometimes making his way downstairs to the garden to sunbathe when he felt like it! We even had to put him on a diet at some point because he was taking full advantage of the fact that so many people around him would feed him and give him lick e lix!

In the 7 years since we have had him, Beebs has been in good shape but around 18 months ago he started to become unwell and we weren’t sure why. We did some investigations and found that he had a very slow heart beat which was being caused by Third Degree AV Block- a very serious condition. We were advised by the cardiologists at Virtual Veterinary Specialists (who have been invaluable during this whole process!) that we could try to manage the situation for a while, but ultimately Beebs would need to have a pacemaker put in to control his heart beat in case it started beating too slow for his body to cope with. Over the last 18 months we have carefully monitored Beebs for any changes and he has been on medications every day to try support his heart.

However, in the last few weeks we have noticed his heart slowing down a bit and we are now at the stage where he really needs to have the surgery to ensure that he continues to have the best quality of life.

Obviously all of the team are very invested in Beebs and will be contributing to the costs of his surgery but as the cost is so high, we would really appreciate any donations that people could make towards his treatment. Thank you so much
