IN AN EPIC LIFE CELEBRATING JOIE DE VIVRE and
“GOOD SEX”
DR. RUTH PROVED THAT SIZE DOESN’T MATTER.
Hello Friends,
It’s Annie O’Sullivan and Stephen Nachamie
…we have great news!
Our acclaimed production of Mark St. Germain’s Becoming Dr. Ruth has been invited to the Edinburgh Fringe festival this summer. It will be the UK premiere of this funny, enlightening and inspiring one woman show about the amazing life of Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer – and her unlikely amazing journey from being an orphan of the holocaust to the world’s most famous and iconic sex therapist.
We’re in the process of raising funds to bring Dr. Ruth’s groundbreaking and timely story across the pond—and we need your help. Your generous support will help us cover travel, housing, and production costs to bring our show to Edinburgh for the month of August 2026. Our eventual goal is to produce the play in London’s Off–West End and throughout the UK and Ireland.
Dr. Ruth was a great friend and collaborator on our productions around the US, including at Penguin Rep (NY), New Rep (Boston), and Cincinnati Playhouse).
Sadly, Dr. Ruth passed in 2024 at 96 years young - but her inspiring legacy lives on!
In 2025, brought the show to Shadowland Stages in Ellenville, New York, as a tribute to her extraordinary and epic life.
Although a tiny woman (only 4’7"), she encouraged a huge change in how we talk about sex and relationships with candor, wit, and joie de vivre.
Against all odds, 10-year-old, Karola Ruth Siegel fled the Nazis on the Kindertransport. Orphaned by the Holocaust, her search for knowledge and family led her to Switzerland, Israel, France, and ultimately to the United States—where, at 50, she became the world-renowned sex therapist and unlikely pop icon, Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer.
BECOMING DR. RUTH is a New York and Nationally Lauded play
by
Mark St. Germain (FREUD'S LAST SESSION, THE HAPPIEST MAN IN THE WORLD) - written in collaboration with Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer.
This intimate and poignant production stars Broadway's Anne O'Sullivan as Dr. Ruth - in an acclaimed performance (acclaimed by the New York Times and by Dr. Ruth herself!)
Directed by Stephen Nachamie (Broadway's SHE LOVES ME,
Off-Broadway's Ken Ludwig's DEAR JACK, DEAR LOUISE).
A dear friend of Stephen’s, Dr. Ruth supported and praised our work (and especially Annie’s performance), making this production of Mark St. Germain’s play an extra-special experience.
We’re very proud and excited to share BECOMING DR RUTH with the Edinburgh Fringe (and hopefully throughout the UK and beyond.)
We are deeply grateful for your support!
To quote Dr. Ruth,
We "wish you joy and good sex for the rest of your lives!”
