Help Becky Fix Her Flooded Home and Submerged Basement

Hi! I am Linda Winters and I am hoping to raise funds for my daughter Becky in West Allis after her home was flooded August 10. Becky is a single, working mom (dialysis nurse) with three kids ages 7, 12 & 13. She lives on 82nd near State Fair Park which was one of the hardest hit areas of this weekend’s horrendous floods.

Becky has worked hard to make improvements to their home every year. She has used her limited funds to make additional nice spaces in her 2-bedroom home for the kids by finishing the basement with a rec area and her son’s “bedroom,” and most recently renovating/creating a small sun room for the girls to do their homework.

This weekend, in just a few hours, all her hard work was simply washed away. Together they watched the water pour in through the concrete blocks and basement windows - helpless. Her basement ended up with water to its CEILING, and then came up 4 more inches into the main floor of the house!!! The hot water heater broke off and was literally floating around which kept water spewing from it until the City came to turn the water off. She had to find and install a water heater before they would turn her water back on.

At this point her basement is a total loss. She needs to repair or replace the furnace & AC, as well as her washer, and dryer. She also will need a lot of work to her electric system. She heats with fuel oil, and it appears water entered the tank which will create more problems – like how to empty the tank and perhaps pay to get a gas line to the house before winter hits.

The upstairs was not without its damages. The girls sunny homework room - unusable. Every floor, potentially warped. The list is overwhelming and as her mother I just don’t even know how she is keeping it together - headed back to work today as an “essential” employee with so much of her home in shambles.

Please keep Becky and her family as well as the others who experienced this flood in your prayers! I know she was only one of many impacted, but any and all help would be amazingly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
