My name is Becky, and I live in Hana-Maui with my kids. Recently, the Kona Low storm caused a tree to fall on the truck that I rely on every day. This truck isn’t just a vehicle for me—it’s how I get my kids to school, get to work, and pick up supplies for the nonprofit I work for. I regularly haul large donations from the Maui Food Bank for our after school programs at Hana School, supporting youth in our community.
While I’m grateful that my family and I are safe, losing my truck has made it incredibly difficult to keep up with daily life and continue my work. Insurance will help, but it won’t cover everything. The cost of a rental, searching for a new truck, shipping one to Maui, and paying a mechanic to inspect it all add up quickly. Trucks are expensive and hard to find here, so I’m facing a big gap between what insurance will cover and what I actually need to get back on the road.
I’ve always tried to help others in times of need, and now I find myself needing a little help to get through this. I’m so grateful for any support you can offer. With your help, I hope to get back on my feet quickly and return to supporting my family and my community. Thank you for being there for us.
