UPDATE:

Thanks for all your prayers, love and support. God has truly blessed us with such great family and friends. Treatment number 3 is complete. We should know the results of the treatment within 3-4 months.

It has been recently discovered my bonus mom, Becky, has come out of remission. Initially diagnosed in 2010, Multiple Myeloma has resurfaced as stage 3b. It is a blood cancer that starts in the plasma cells of bone marrow. It can affect the entire body. Since it began relapsing, it has boldly dared to become more aggressive and grow outside of the bone marrow into other organs and soft tissues.

She never knows which days will be good or bad. There is chronic fatigue that gets worse with each passing year, daily bone pain, frequent illness, generally feeling like crap most days, joint pain, fevers for no reason, mental stress, etc.

There is a long and vigorous treatment plan. We have started this GoFundMe to help cover the financial burdens that cancer imposes on daily life and basic needs. They are a one-income household with my dad, Steve, being her primary caregiver and their financial provider. With Becky's treatment plan, there will be many days/weeks that he will need to take off work to care for her. These days will unfortunately be unpaid.

Financial assistance will help cover his time spent away from work as well as help with the many medications, medical costs associated with treatment complications, and other financial needs that will arise, i.e., additional ER visits, insurance premiums, co-pays, household bills such as utilities and groceries.

Any donation is greatly appreciated so the recovery can be their main focus. We truly appreciate and love each one of you.

Becky's treatment schedule:

Chemo infusions 1/wk for 9 wks. Then every other wk for 6 months.

Oral chemo daily for 21 days then 7 days off and repeat for 12 months.

Dexamethasone 1/wk.

Bone strengthener injection 1/mon.

Many other meds to counteract side effects.

Her first chemo infusion will begin next Thursday, Aug 14.
