Hi everyone! My name is Mariah Adams and I've created this GoFundMe on behalf of my mom, Becky Amen.

Becky Amen has been a very active member in the Troy, IL community, as well as Triad High School. She was an English teacher at Triad High School for 20+ years before retiring in 2022. Over that time at THS, she taught multiple levels of high school English, murder mystery classes, and led the yearbook for 9 years. She is very involved with her church, Bethel Baptist Church and helps others whenever she is asked. She loves to travel and has visited around 27 countries, sometimes by herself or with family, and sometimes chaperoning groups of students.

In October, Becky was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had her surgery in November, where doctors successfully removed the cancer. However, the cancer had already moved into her lymph nodes, meaning she will be starting her journey with chemotherapy and radiation. This has been a long waiting game because she pushed off starting treatment to help with a long term substitute position at the high school. After she was done subbing, it still took forever because of the insurance issues. She was unable to find any cancer center on this side of the river that would take her insurance. This means that every treatment requires a trek to Creve Coeur.

If you know Becky, you know that she has always been ready to lend a helping hand, no matter the situation. She has helped with many different things from renting out a room in her house, to fostering dogs for the local shelter. Any donation, big or small, will help go towards any medical expenses not covered by insurance, as well as travel costs and any other surprises we might come across along the way.
