On August 15th, 2020, David Graves died of complications from severe pancreatitis. He was only 4 days away from his 50th birthday. His death was completely unexpected and has devastated both his family and many friends. His loss is doubly hard for his wife of more than 23 years, Rebecca Graves.
Becky became unemployed this year, as she was laid off from Enterprise due to Covid-19. She relied on David's insurance from his job at St. Clare Hospital. With Dave gone, she will have all her normal bills that Dave's job currently covered, as well as hospital bills and funeral expenses. Soon, she will no longer be covered by Dave's employer and will have no insurance of her own. Dave would be heartbroken if he knew that Becky not only had to deal with his death, but that she would be burdened so much financially at the same time as well.
The $5000 goal is specifically for funeral expenses. Any additional money raised will be used for the hospital expenses incurred from David's stay in the ICU, and to help Becky until she is able to find another job and insurance of her own.
David's funeral will be held on Saturday, August 22nd at Kutis Funeral Home at 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO, 63129. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the GoFundMe and to the Missouri School for the Blind.
Dave was an eclectic artist who was talented in so many areas. He wrote, he drew, he reviewed movies, he created amazing Lego builds and he threw the best Halloween parties. And because of all his hobbies, interests and jobs, he had many, many friends. If any of Dave's friends were ever in need, he would absolutely do what he could to help them.
If you are a friend, relative, co-worker or former co-worker of Dave's or Becky's, please consider donating to help Becky stay on her feet during this awful time. If you didn't know him well, but you've enjoyed something Dave created or were touched by something he did, please honor him by helping his widow.
I've started this go fund me because I want to help Dave's wife during this difficult time. I am Dave's first cousin, the daughter of his mother's brother. I still have an amazing Snoopy mailbox he made me when I was a little kid. I remember going into his bedroom and being amazed at his artwork hanging from the walls. So many people will miss him and nobody was prepared for his loss, least of all Becky. Please help Becky if you are able, I know she would really appreciate it.
