Help Beckett recover from the fire

Donation protected
Just after 1:30 am on Monday, August 26th 2024, the Ayer Fire Department was dispatched to 8 Mulberry Circle for a reported building fire. First-arriving units found a kitchen fire on the first floor of the home. The homeowner had evacuated the building, but his dog was still inside. The homeowner had been awoken by the dog and found the upper floor filled with smoke. Crews quickly knocked down the fire in the kitchen and checked for extension to other areas of the house. The first and second floor of the house is a complete loss and they will be displaced for 6 months to 1 year. This incident was a near miss that could have had a very different outcome if not for the lucky and well-timed intervention of the family dog, Beckett.

The dog was located by fire crews on the second floor suffering from smoke inhalation and was given oxygen on scene. The Ayer Police Department assisted the homeowner with transporting the dog to an emergency veterinarian in Westford, where it is reportedly in stable condition. Beckett remains in Westford Animal Hospital with smoke inhalation and an eye infection, they are keeping him in an oxygen chamber to assist with his breathing and cough. Glenn, the homeowner, would never ask for help. Beckett saved his dad so I am hoping we can help save Beckett. Due to the extensive one on one care needed for Beckett, the bill for his medical charges is already at $7,000 and estimated to be around $10,000.
