Help Beckett Recover from Emergency Brain Surgery
Donation protected
I am the mom of Beckett, who is an intelligent 11-year-old 5th grade student, friend, artist, and lover of all things outer space! He has aspirations of working for NASA as an aerospace engineer. I am making this in hopes to help with costs assisting with hotel stays by the hospital, medical, recovery, and inside-related family fun activities that he may still be able to enjoy.
He was minding his own business in his classroom and this traumatic injury happened due to a senseless act where my son was in the crossfire of a violent student. That student was throwing over desks and tables as well as threw a full metal water bottle in full rage that shattered my son’s skull. He sustained a traumatic brain injury with multiple skull fractures, two different brain bleeds, and brain bruising. He was rushed into emergency brain surgery on the other side of the state where they had to rebuild his skull with metal plates, stop the brain bleeds, and try to repair all the facial muscle damage. ICU has been his second home with a PICC line, 24/7 pain and seizure medication, and 5 other IVs for various medications.
My boy was counting down the days to graduate from 5th grade and have fun playing in the backyard pool, going to the waterpark, and riding the rollercoasters at Legoland. Now he has to have physical therapy, mental health therapy, round-the-clock medications, and gets tired just being up and alert. All of this could and should have never happened as my son is entitled to a safe and welcoming classroom. Any help would be wonderful so he can have an enjoyable and fun summer doing indoor activities since he won’t be able to have fun in the sun. Any funds left would be used to go toward the bills for his therapy’s, appointments, and what insurance does not cover. Thank you!
