Help Becca Beat Cancer’s Ass

Donation protected

My mother, Becca, was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 Infiltrating Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. She and her husband are both self-employed and run a business together. Because of this, they need financial help to be able to take time off work so Becca can recover and rest. If you are able, consider donating to this go fund me so she can financially afford to recover from breast cancer surgery and treatment. Below is an explanation from her of what’s going on and how you can help.

“We started a new adventure 17 days ago, it was confirmed I have Infiltrating Invasive Lobular Carcinoma, Breast Cancer, Stage 1 at this point in the testing. Luckily it is hormone fed and with medicine after surgery can lessen the reoccurrence. The doctors are still formulating a plan because a recent MRI found another suspicious spot and I have to have another MRI guided biopsy. We have to wait until after surgery to confirm if the cancer has spread to my lymph nodes. Surgery date is set September 9th and once I’ve healed from surgery a bit, about 4 weeks, radiation and/or chemo will start. I have had genetic testing done and I do not carry any genes that indicate any alarm. I cannot say enough good about St. Vincent's team navigating this time with us. Our normal will be altered for a while but we intend on kicking Cancer in the ass and moving forward.

Questions you may ask

1. How long have we known?

Tests have been going on since June, there was a routine mammogram that showed a spot. There were no early indicators or lumps. I skipped last years mammogram so there has been a 2 year window of unknown.

2. How can we help?

We have an amazing helper in my mother in law for rides and help with kids. We need to prepare our own meals bc there are food allergies in our family so please no meal trains or church group sign ups as they will not be helpful. We have several people that have been thru this Breast Cancer journey successfully that are willing to help counsel and support us in the choices, emotions and advice, for that we are grateful. To be bluntly honest any help that we need involves this unknown healing time of 8-10 weeks, we rely on both of us in our businesses and 2/3 of our work is physical. Our clients have been amazing and are willing to be flexible and wait for our return but we will be forced to take take time off we have not planned and once we clear that time we will have to ease into our normal as my energy will be lessened for a bit and doctor appointments will become primary to scheduling. I will keep you updated as we know more.”
