Hi my name is Scott.

6 years ago me and my 7 month pregnant wife Kate brought home the most amazing chocolate dapple sausage dog anyone could ever ask for and he has stole our hearts ever since. To anyone that knows Paul knows what a character he is, he’s very sassy but so loving. The past few days he has licked our tears every time we have cried.

The news we have received over the last few days is absolutely shattering us beyond belief.

Unfortunately dachshunds are prone to back problems. Paul over last few days has deteriorated quickly with losing the use of his back legs.

The vets have suspected he has a slipped disc also known as IVDD.

He urgently needs an MRI scan, spinal surgery, hospitalisation and hydrotherapy after care to be able to recover from this. If it is left untreated then the chances of him recovering get less by the day.

With my wife being pregnant with our first child we really need any help. He is insured but not for the full amount needed for such an intense expensive surgery. We have put all our savings that we have towards the treatment he needs but still need £4000 to get Paul the surgery and aftercare he desperately needs.

We adore sausage dogs so much that we rescued Patrick last year from an abusive puppy farm and have given him an amazing new life with Paul, my wife Kate has worked so hard with him over the past year and he has a new happy outlook on life because of her. Paul and Patrick are inseparable and if Paul doesn’t get the surgery he needs we just cannot even begin to imagine life without him.

I would do anything for him to be playing fetch with his favourite stick in the garden with me again happy and healthy.

We want Paul to be with us just like we had imagined and talked about for so long when our little baby girl is born into this world in 9 weeks time.
