Help Beau Heal After a Traumatic Eye Injury

Donation protected
Life can change in an instant. For the Lashinski family, that moment arrived on Saturday, April 26th, during what should have been a typical afternoon of yard work.

Jenn and Jordan's 7-year-old son, Beau, is always eager to lend a hand, and that day was no different. He was doing a great job helping his parents tidy up the yard. Then, in an instant, the ordinary turned terrifying. A rogue piece of wood, perhaps kicked up or dislodged, suddenly speared into Beau’s left eye. The world seemed to tilt on its axis as Beau clutched his face — the severity of the injury was immediately evident. Jenn and Jordan rushed their son to the emergency room in Little Falls. From there, Beau was urgently transported by ambulance to HCMC in Minneapolis for emergency eye surgery.

The medical team delivered news that no parent ever wants to hear: Beau had suffered a "globe rupture." The impact is so severe that Beau has currently lost vision in his left eye. Initially, doctors weren't sure if the lens was lost at the scene or remained lodged behind his eye. A long and delicate surgery followed, stretching into the early hours of Sunday morning, where the surgeon's priority was to save the structure of Beau's eye and prevent infection. Over 25 stitches and a temporary contact lens now protect his injured eye.

Beau's recovery will be a marathon, not a sprint. Since the injury, he has had multiple follow-up appointments and is under ongoing monitoring by specialists, including a pediatric retina expert. He's also undergone ultrasounds and CT scans, with another surgery on the horizon. Doctors have confirmed that the lens is not lodged in the back of his eye, and they are currently conducting tests to determine if any additional foreign matter is hidden within the blood behind his eye. It's undoubtedly going to be a long journey.

For now, the simple joys of childhood, like riding bike, playing at the park or even returning to school, are on hold. And as my cousin Jenn and her husband, Jordan, remain by Beau's side, their ability to work is also significantly impacted.

In the face of this unexpected and incredibly challenging journey, we are reaching out to our community for support. The mounting medical bills and the loss of income are an added burden during an already stressful time. We are hoping to raise $50,000 to help cover medical costs not covered by insurance, as well as lost income while Jenn is caring for Beau.

Let's rally around the Lashinski family and show them the incredible strength of community. Any support you can offer — whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply keeping Beau and the Lashinski family in your thoughts and prayers — would mean the world to them. Please consider sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Every share helps us reach more people who may be able to offer support.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity.
