Help Beau Get the Neurology Care He Needs
Donation protected
As most of you know, I rescued a dog named Beau on September 24th, 2024. He came to the clinic I work for to be euthanized. At this time in my life, I was going through a lot mentally. There was something with Beau that I just knew I needed him by my side. We have truly had a connection right from the start, almost like it was God’s plan to put him in my life when I truly needed it. From the day he came to the clinic, I did everything possible to keep him healthy, happy, and just give him a wonderful life for the rest of the years he has with us. Beau is a 9-year-old shepherd mix (yes, I did a DNA test on him and the results were Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Australian Cattle Dog, and MANY more ). When I found out he was all of these breeds, I was thinking, what did I just do? (If you don’t know, all these breeds are high energy and need to be exercised regularly). But anyways, the point of this post.
Yesterday morning, Beau was acting very strange. He started crossing his back legs, falling over, drinking excessive amounts of water, and vomiting continuously. It was almost like he was drunk. (Monday night, Beau and I went to bed around 8:30, and there was no possible way he could’ve gotten into anything). Immediately, I drove to the clinic I work for. With that, of course, I got chosen to stand for jury duty, which started Monday and ended midday yesterday. I’m so grateful for the doctors, technicians, managers, and even the groomer for caring for Beau while I was in court being a jury member. I seriously can’t express how much I appreciated the care that everyone put into my boy. The doctors really didn’t know why he was vomiting, but the back legs crossing possibly indicated a slipped disk in his back and a possible injury to his spinal cord when he fell. He’s currently home on cage rest and a supportive harness to support his backend along with pain meds. The hope is with rest and pain management, his backend will improve.
Today, I brought him back to the clinic I work for, and there is no improvement. He has very little feeling in his back legs which means there is damage to his spinal cord ( the part of his brain is not signaling his back legs) We are going to Cleveland Metropolitan for a neurology consultation and possibly doing a CT or MRI. I really need all the support I can get. I’m a 21-year-old girl that works very hard and also has bills to pay of her own. With neurology, it can add up very quickly. Please, if you can donate, I will make it up by working the money off. So please, if you can donate anything at all.
Thank you to everyone who donates, reaches out, reads Beau’s story, and all the prayers❤️
