Hello my Name is Victor and I am making a fund raising for my Moms rare medication as most of my friends and family know of the situation, my mom Beatriz Santamaria has gotten a rare infection back in October of 2024, this infection is a fungal infection known as mucormycosis. It’s a very rare type of infection that has left her disabled and a lot of her tissue being removed. Within the months she’s gone thru numerous surgeries to remove as much of the fungus possible while taking a very rare medication known as ambisome or known as amphoteracin. It’s a drug use only in life threatening situations. Unfortunately due to the progressive infection, the neuro team made the decision to remove her right eye and as well as her carotid artery. The removal of her artery made my mom disabled and nonverbal wit limited movement, the reason of blocking her face was because of so much surgery done to her brain, cranial, and orbital area as well as her sinuses and pallet. The reason for this fundraiser is because after her discharge the antifungal medication will not be covered

UPDATE: unfortunately my mom got another infection while in the hospital and developed severe pneumonia and she sadly passed away on Sunday April 27 at 11:17am. she fought for nearly 7 months and her body gave it her all but her going into septic shock and the severity of her condition it was best to let her rest and end her suffering this fundraiser will now be for her funeral expenses.
