Hi, I’m Beatriz. I’m 13 and music is a huge part of my life, and I’m raising funds to attend Amplify Sleepaway Camp in Ojai, California this summer.

I’ve been playing fiddle since I was five. I now study classical violin with Faina Podolnaya, founder of the Siskiyou Violins and a former Soviet Union Laureate Teacher of the Year, and cello with Michal Palzewicz, a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Warsaw’s Academy of Music and a winner of the Young Concert Artists Auditions in Leipzig. I just finished my first year as first chair cello with the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon.

Amplify is an immersive two-week, all-girls music and arts camp tucked into the mountains of Ojai. I’ll be in the Songwriting and Performance track, writing original material and forming a band with likeminded teenage girls from around the country. The session is built around daily group instruction, private lessons, and band practice, with mentorship from working musicians and educators, and it ends with a final showcase where every band performs their original songs.

I’d love to attend with a friend I’ve known since preschool. We’re both lovers of music, and going together would make it even more special.
