On May 30, Roberto, a loving husband and devoted father, was violently taken from his family by ICE on his way to work. He is the primary provider for his wife, Beatriz, and their 8-year-old son — and now this family is facing a crisis they never imagined.

That morning, ICE agents ordered Roberto out of his car, put him in wrist restraints, forced him into their vehicle, and ripped his shirt in the process. He was taken with nothing but the clothes on his back. Beatriz had no idea where he was, and it took her two days to locate his car.

Roberto was detained in Baltimore for three days, forced to sleep on the floor. He was then transferred to Virginia for one night before being sent to Louisiana. During his detention, he was given nothing but bread and ham to eat. The water at the Louisiana facility smells and tastes like bleach. Three facilities later, he still has not been issued any clothes and remains in the ripped shirt he was wearing when he was detained. He has been given no opportunity to call a lawyer, no chance to file habeas corpus, and no due process.

Roberto is a gentle, hardworking man who has always put his family first. He worked two jobs to support Beatriz and their son. He and his little boy shared a beautiful bond — playing basketball, going to the park, swimming, eating ice cream, laughing, and being silly together.

Beatriz is still in shock. She cannot believe her husband and best friend was taken from her so suddenly and violently. Their son is completely distraught and cries for his father every day, unable to understand why this happened. Beatriz works part-time, but her income is not enough to cover rent, food, and basic household bills. On top of her grief, she lives in constant fear that she could be taken next, leaving their little boy without either parent in the United States.

With Roberto detained and unable to work, the family is struggling to cover basic needs including rent, food, utilities, and household bills. They are terrified of losing their home on top of everything else they have already lost. This family is not asking for luxuries — they are asking for survival. Él y su pequeño compartían un vínculo muy especial: jugaban baloncesto, iban al parque, nadaban, comían helado, se reían y hacían tonterías juntos.

Beatriz sigue en estado de shock. No puede creer que su esposo y mejor amigo le haya sido arrebatado de una manera tan repentina y violenta. Su hijo está completamente destrozado y llora por su padre todos los días, sin poder entender por qué ocurrió esto. Beatriz trabaja a tiempo parcial, pero sus ingresos no son suficientes para cubrir la renta, los alimentos y los gastos básicos del hogar.
