Help Bear's family with medical expenses
Donation protected
Bear has been a healthy 3 year old little boy that loves all things outside, Spider-Man, and cars. The week before Christmas he and his family contracted a respiratory virus. Everyone in the family got better, except Bear. His respiratory symptoms resolved, but he lost interest in eating, drinking and playing and grew increasingly tired. He was treated for an ear infection but continued to decline. He then was taken to the urgent care and was told his body was fighting a bacterial and viral infection but should get better. Two days later he was taken to the emergency room where he had a seizure in his dad's arms while walking through the doors. He was taken downtown to Children's hospital and was admitted to the ICU. After the first night, Bear was no longer responding. He was then intubated, and placed on monitors to assess his heart, breathing, and brain functions. After several test where ran it was found that he has swelling of the brain stem. At this time he is still nonresponsive. He is getting high doses of steroids to help with the brain and spinal cord swelling and has responded to painful stimuli.
I have started this page to offset the medical expenses that will not be covered by insurance. He has currently been in the ICU for for 4 days and the doctors anticipate weeks to months for recovery. Any donation is greatly appreciated. I will continue to update this page as we learn more.
