On Sep 23 we discovered that our beloved Labrador had developed an infection in her uterus, called stump pyometra, after what should have been a routine spay. Pyometra can be fatal if not treated right away, and we had no choice but to take Bear to the ER, where she underwent surgery and was monitored overnight. We were lucky that the surgery was successful, and Bear is now home recovering from her second invasive procedure in two weeks.
Anyone who knows Bear knows that she’s the sweetest and most loving pup you could ever meet. She has smiles and kisses for everyone she sees, from strangers on the street to friends at her favorite coffee shop. She’s been a happy and strong dog until this experience, so it’s been very shocking and difficult watching her deal with this. We’re just looking forward to being able to run and play with her again soon.
We know times are difficult for everyone, and we’re grateful to anyone who can help support Bear’s treatment. We’re determined to cover everything we can with savings and pet insurance, but at $14k+ her ongoing medical costs are more than we can realistically take on all at once. Thank you ♥️
Love,
