Update 08/11/25 - The vets & nurses did everything they could to save Bear but sadly his infection got worse and he experienced further complications. It wasn't fair to put Bear through anymore, he was put to sleep on the 07/11/25. It was devastating news to myself, Bears family and everyone who had looked after Bear at Scarsdale Vet Hospital. I am so grateful for the care Bear has received. Thank you all for your kind words and donations. The money raised will go towards Bears cremation and any left over funds will be donated back to Scarsdale Vet Hosptial to help someone else in need. Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out for help for my boy Bear, who recently turned five. He has been through an incredibly tough journey. Recently, Bear was admitted to Scarsdale Pet Hospital, where he’s undergone three surgeries.

It all began when Bear developed a slipped disc at the top of his tail, which required surgery not once, but twice. Despite the neurology teams best efforts, Bear continued to experience severe pain and his tail sadly had to be amputated in a third surgery to give him relief. Bear’s case is extremely rare, with only two similar cases documented. Through it all, he’s been strong and loving.

Throughout everything, the neurology team at Scarsdale, led by David, has been incredible. Their expertise, compassion, and constant care have meant so much during such a difficult time. They’ve treated Bear like one of their own, keeping him comfortable and I couldn’t be more grateful for the dedication they’ve given to helping him heal.

After finally coming home to recover, Bear has now had to be re-admitted to the hospital due to an abscess near his surgery site. He’s currently on IV antibiotics and needs to stay for two nights under close care to ensure the infection is controlled and that he can safely come home again. This has all come at a very difficult time for me personally. I recently had surgery myself and have had to leave my job to recover, I’ve now run out of financial resources to cover Bear’s ongoing care.

Any help no matter how small would mean the world to us. Every contribution will go directly towards covering Bear’s hospital stay, treatment and helping him get back on his paws.
