Hi my name is Jessica Sawyer and this is my now 5 year old rescue Bear. I live with my partner and bestfriend with our rescues. She was born in a storm train and Robert’s Animal sanctuary rescued her. I had just lost my childhood dog a few months back and I found her, it was like we needed eachother.

She is some sort of corgi/beagle cross and she is the sweetest little lady you’ll ever meet. We went on a walk Friday, everything was normal and then when we got home she was yelling and crying. We took her to a vet who said it was just a stomach bug but I knew in my heart something else was wrong. She went to Medivet and they suspect she has a spinal issue which nobody could have predicted or even know why it happened. We’ve brought her home today and we’ve been sent home with lots of pain meds and anti inflammatories and strict bed rest. Another night would’ve been too costly and would’ve taken away our savings towards the MRI. The vet suspects she possibly has Intervertebral disk disease however have said that it could be something else but we won’t know until referral and MRI. This in which there was nothing we did wrong to have caused this which was my biggest concern and had me feeling a lot of mum guilt. It is very common in little and long breeds apparently and can show signs at any stage of their lives. We’ve already paid out 1800 for vet bills so far for her to get medications and overnight stay but she needs to see a specialist and get an MRI to see if she needs surgery which the MRI is costing between £4500 and £5000. If she does need surgery or therapy it’ll be 7500. We’ve brought her home today, under serious bed rest and heavy medication so that we can have her recover a little at home and also so this gives us time to gather funds together for the MRI. I’m only a pub shift manager so as you can imagine finding it very difficult to come up with such a large sum so quickly. Please any donation would help.
