Hello Friends!

Most of you have met our big boy Bear. He is our sweet 2 year old Old English Sheepdog. He loves EVERYONE and is always the favorite on all our camping trips! Recently, Bear started limping and showing signs of pain. We took him to our vet for a full set of X-rays, unfortunately our baby boy was diagnosed with a genetic defect, hip dysplasia, in both hips.

We could see at about a year old that his hips looked a bit narrow but we did not expect it to be an issue at such a young age. We are now faced with the unexpected need for Bear to receive 2 hip replacements. Each hip is done separately with an estimate of $10,200-$10,800 per hip. This price is the quote we have been given by the UC Davis, School of Veterinary  Medicine. We chose UC Davis to keep the cost down as best we could, as most regular vet surgeons were ranging at about $30k. 

Since we were told that Bear will need a double hip replacement equaling over $20k, we want to do anything we can to get his pain minimized as best we can as soon as possible. Currently, until he can receive his surgery he is on daily pain medication. 

All who know us, know that we are not the type to ask for help, but at this point we feel like it is in the best interest of Bear to get what he needs to be healthy and happy. He is our family member and our baby Peyton’s best friend. We cannot risk loosing him or allowing him to live a life full of pain and medication.
