Hi everyone - I’ve been asked to setup a fundraiser after leaving a job as a SNAP & Medicaid worker due to policy changes that had us hurting already suffering people.
My decision was easy morally but leaves me in a tight spot. I just paid off medical debt and was out on an unpaid medical leave for a month before resigning. I knew it’d be tough financially but I couldn’t do things that hurt our veterans and homeless or put others at risk in other ways.
I’d been saving towards moving out from a DV situation that’s left me in a financial mess. I’ve spent a year rebuilding credit and paying debts + building a safety net but medical issues kept me out of work often the past few months. In the past, I’ve lived in my car to save money but a recent law has made that option illegal. I’m now asking for help to keep rebuilding instead of falling backwards.
Thank you for caring about my story. I’m so grateful for those standing with me for human rights and for those contributing to me staying safe so I can keep helping others in my community stay safe.
For anyone who prefers cash app or Venmo, my tag is Sunflwrbean. Thank you!
