Help Bean be Seen.

Our son, who for all intents and purposes will be called Bean, needs your help. He is the sweetest, brightest star. He is thoughtful, kind, hilarious, and is suspected to have autism.

For the past five years, we have been on various waiting lists for Bean to be Seen by a professional who can help provide the support he needs at school. His development and learning is severely delayed. His fine motor skills are lacking, to the point where he can't use a pencil, cutlery, brush his teeth, open packets in his lunchbox or dress himself. Bean also doesn't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time, and often times, settling him back involves a meltdown. He is also suspected to have a coordination disorder, part of dyspraxia, and needs help with his speech and language. Despite all of this and his age, every assessment, observation or provisional plan has been rejected without a real in person visit taking place.

Repeatedly, we've been told he is not severe or violent enough. He is not a priority. However, this is a boy who puts everyone's needs above his own, hates to see people sad and is so loving. He is a priority to us.

We are now at the point of looking at high schools, without any support in place. Time is quickly running and we can no longer wait. Hence, we're looking to pay for private assessments. We have found a provider who is able and willing to give Bean an autism assessment as a first step. If we should be lucky enough to fund this and more, the extra will go towards the next private assessment for our Bean.

We hope you can find it in your heart to help us. We are desperate to give our incredible boy the best chance at a future, in which he hopes to be a game designer.
