My name is Cathi, I’m a wildlife biologist and passionate animal lover. I am raising funds to help a cat foster mom pay for a desperately needed eyelid surgery for Beaker, a young male, black, short-haired cat. Beaker’s foster mom (Alex) is an amazing woman, who is fostering several cats and kittens, helping them recover from illnesses and injuries, or being abandoned, until permanent homes can be found for them. Beaker’s previous owner took him to a vet to be euthanized due to problems with his eyes. Fortunately, the vet refused to euthanize him and Beaker was surrendered and taken to a rescue group and is now with his foster mom. Alex is dedicated to caring for him and treating his eyes with medication multiple times a day for several weeks while they have been figuring out what is needed to help him.
Beaker has been diagnosed with entropian, which means that his eyelid margins have “flipped” over and his eye lashes are now constantly irritating his eyes. After his foster mom consulted with a veterinary ophthalmologist, it was determined that Beaker still has some sight and that his condition can be corrected with the right surgery. Unfortunately, the rescue nor his foster mom can afford the surgery he needs.
Sometimes, it takes a village to help the discarded animals in our communities, and we need your support and generosity to help Beaker get the right surgery so he can live a happy life and see the world around him. Please donate whatever you can to help this precious boy. Without this operation, all the progress made with his current condition will stop and he will lose his eyes or need daily medication in them.
All funds raised will go directly to Beaker’s foster mom to cover the cost of his eyelid surgery (except any funds withheld by Go Fund Me).
The above photo is of Beaker before Alex began treating his eyes with medication.
This is after weeks of daily treatments to his eyes. While he is doing better, it is only temporary and requires medication multiple times a day for him to have some comfort. He’s a very sweet, but shy cat and once he has his eyelid surgery and recovers, Alex will help find a loving home for him where he can live a safe and healthy life and see the world around him.
