Help Baylee Walk Again: Urgent Surgery on Both Knees Needed

As a mother of 4 daughters, I feel I’m fully responsible to take care of all my children, including our fur babies. I have 3 dogs who we all love dearly and do our best to care for them and love them each and every day.

Baylee was the first dog we took in 10 years ago. She is a lab mix with boxer, born on an Easter Sunday in a litter of all female puppies, amazing right? Well, let me tell you, she’s even more amazing than that. She never had any kind of aggression towards anybody or any other fellowship doggo. She is what you would call a gentle giant. She’s been attacked by other dogs but never fought back; she is truly a loving and sweet girl!

Fun fact about Baylee: she loves balloons! You give her a balloon, she will walk everywhere holding that string in her mouth. She will not pop it, just simply holds the balloon in pure joy like a child. She also loves chasing and popping bubbles!

Last month, I did a normal blood work routine on her since she is 10 years old. I was very nervous as I had lost a close dog 10 years ago due to kidney disease. She came back healthy, no illness, no cancer, no high or low anything! The best kind of news a momma wants to hear!

Then a month later, Baylee started to take some anti-inflammatory pills to help with some arthritis as I noticed she started to move a little slower but still wanted to play with the kids and her sisters. Those pills were making her feel better, so she started to run to play fetch with our 10-year-old daughter, Savannah. That’s when everything changed.

Baylee limped back inside. I thought we played just a little too hard, so I gave her some rest and less walking to heal up. Well, she didn’t. A week later, I decided to get her seen at her vet because I wasn’t seeing much improvement in healing. Turns out, she had torn her cruciate ligament (in her back knee). I was told it’s best to do surgery to ensure fewer problems in the future. On our way out of the vet, Baylee was too excited and slipped on their hard laminated floor, and that’s when her other knee gave in.

Devastated. My sweet girl is so full of life, and she can’t even stand up. I have bought some slings to help her walk enough to use the restroom in the meantime until we can figure out how to gather money for 2 knees now, totaling $15,000.

I am scrambling around seeking any kind of help to get surgery done on her. I am going to try to sell my collector's car (I’ve had since I was 16) and my current car to help get funds. But unfortunately, those two cars can’t sell fast enough. She needs surgery now! She can’t even simply stand. I can’t lose a healthy, full-of-life dog over a simple and common procedure that is fixable! The only issue is funding. I am desperate to get her in surgery as soon as I can. Each day is harder and harder.

Please, if you can help her in any way, not only will you be a part of saving one of the sweetest dogs, you will be given a picture of Baylee with all her sisters around her, human and fellow dogs. I also craft candles, sugar scrubs, soaps, and more, and I will be ever so happy to gift anything to you for your help.

Please help me save Baylee, a dog who could never hurt a fly, who loves balloons, bubbles, toys, and most importantly, her sisters (who definitely love her back). My daughters are pleading for help!
