Baylee is a 3 year old twin. She was recently rushed to CHOP in the middle of the night because she wasn’t responding as usual. Upon arrival at the hospital tests were run: blood work, chest x rays, CT scans, and many others. On her way back from her CT scan she had a seizure, and wasn't responding. The doctors had to resuscitate her, insert a breathing tube , and then she was heavily sedated. She had so much pressure and fluid on her brain that the doctors said if she hadn’t been brought in when she was, she wouldn’t have made it.. They had to do immediate surgery. Doctors did an MRI and found that Baylee had 2 mini strokes within the days prior to coming to the hospital. Doctors have discovered some spots on her brain, and at this time they do not know what they are, or what is the cause of her sudden illness.
Baylee has a long medical history as it is and for the last 3 years her parents and doctors have been searching for answers. All tests seem to come back normal, and she has been deemed a medical mystery. Baylee's parents are waiting on an Exome Sequence which is a genetic test to look at every single gene in her body to see if it's something genetic, however the results take 2 to 3 months to come back. Answers are needed now. Alyssa and Bill have been doing some research, and want to take Baylee to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, which has specialists that have solved medical mysteries like Baylee.
Alyssa is a stay at home mom, with four children. Bill is the sole provider for the family. They are afraid to bring Baylee home without answers as to why this medical event occurred, while also worrying about not having proper medical training if something were to happen again. Taking Baylee for a second opinion to Johns Hopkins is needed, but will put a serious financial strain on the Walsh family.
Any donation will be appreciated to help offset the costs of medical bills, travel, and normal family bills, as well as to allow Bill time away from work to be with his family.
