I’m helping my aunt and uncle as their niece, because Baxter deserves the chance to keep being the lovable dog we all adore.

Our sweet dog Baxter needs help.

This week, Baxter suffered a traumatic injury after a high jump/fall that left him with a severe fracture in his right wrist. The emergency vet confirmed that the ligaments in his wrist have also separated a type of injury that cannot heal on its own without major surgery. Without surgery, Baxter will never be able to walk on that leg again.

The part that breaks our hearts is that Baxter is still so loving, gentle, and full of life. He’s the type of dog who greets everyone with a wagging tail, curls up next to you when you’re sad, and tries his best to follow you everywhere, even now, with his splint and pain.

But the surgery he needs a carpal arthrodesis costs between $8,500–$10,000, and without it, the only alternative the vets gave us was to consider putting him down.

And that feels so unfair. Baxter is young, strong, and fighting to stay by our side. The only thing standing in the way is money.

We’re doing everything we can to keep him comfortable, but this splint is only temporary. Without the surgery, he will be in pain and unable to use his leg. We refuse to let financial hardship be the reason Baxter loses his life.

If you know Baxter, you know how special he is.

He’s the dog who loves every person he meets. The dog who will rest his head on your lap without being asked. The dog who has given us nothing but unconditional love since the day we brought him home.

We are reaching out for help big or small so we can give Baxter the chance he deserves.

A chance to walk again.

A chance to live without pain.

A chance to stay with the family that loves him.
