Help Baw's Family with Funeral & Immediate Needs

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mang Sonna, and I am the Executive Director of Bethel Neighborhood Center in Kansas City, Kansas. I am raising funds to help Way La Baw's family with funeral expenses and other basic needs. After visiting Mr. Baw's family today, I know they need help to raise funds to give a respectful funeral to their 16-year-old son, as his mother, the only breadwinner in the family, is too grief-stricken to go to work, and she'll be missing work for some time. In addition to funeral expenses, the family has many other basic needs. Bethel Neighborhood Center has helped new immigrants and refugees for 111 years, and unless we seek help, many of them cannot seek help for themselves because of language, social, cultural and technological barriers.

Way La Baw and his family were originally from Burma/Myanmar, and he was born in a refugee camp in Thailand. After residing in a refugee camp for ten years, his family moved to the United States in 2010. Way and his younger three siblings and parents were happy starting their new life in the United States, but the unthinkable took place on Monday, February 21, when Way's life was cut short - at 16! We have not known the details of how and where he was shot and killed on that fateful day! The only information we have about the incident is what we heard and read in the news. One of the links is here for your reference:  https://www.newsbreak.com/news/2522774090790/kcpd-identifies-homicide-victim-dropped-off-at-hospital?noAds=1&_f=app_share&s=i1

Visiting with his family, Way's father said, "I am hoping my oldest son, Way, to become a medical doctor to help my family and my community, but he is gone now." His mother was too overwhelmed with grief and was crying a lot. Knowing his family's financial struggles, Way, a Junior in Wyandotte High School, started a part-time job at a local Walmart a couple of months ago. He was thrilled to help his family with a small income from his part-time job. But, unfortunately, the hope of having a better future and living in a safe place, away from the refugee camp is gone now for this bereaved family.

Please pray for Way La Baw's family, and donate any amount to help this grieving family. May God bless you for your generosity!
