My name is Batu, I am 25 years old from Uganda, and I have a dream: to go to university and build a meaningful future. I recently passed my secondary school exams, but there is one major barrier holding me back—I am profoundly deaf.

But today, there is hope. I was recently evaluated by Mr. Nathan Nanjaya, Senior Clinical Specialist at MED-EL, who gave me life-changing news: I am a perfect candidate for a cochlear implant!

This medical procedure can pull me out of silence. It will allow me to hear university lectures, communicate independently, and fully participate in society.

The Challenge:

Because I am 25, I do not qualify for children's charities. The total cost for the MED-EL implant system, the specialized surgery at C-Care IHK hospital, and one full year of intensive speech rehabilitation is $25,000 USD. My family and I simply cannot afford this alone.
