Help battle rare cancer for 1972 Eagle Scout!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michael Stone, Jr. and my sisters and I are raising funds to help our dad through his battle with an extremely rare cancer. Our dad is father to 4 and grandfather to 14.

Our dad is not one that would ever ask for help and we will probably be in trouble for setting this up for him LOL...

A little about our dad... our dad has spent his entire life putting everyone else's needs before his own. He achieved Eagle Scout in 1972. He married my mom and they had us 4 children in their early 20's. Often times he worked 7 days per week for many weeks in a row to make sure we were provided for! I have never known him to ask for help.

That said, he has been disabled due to an old shoulder injury that required multiple surgeries and left him with very little use of his dominant arm. Last summer he was in and out of the hospital before finally being diagnosed with Lyme disease and was finally treated for that. After the Lyme disease he noticed what he and his doctors thought was a swollen lymph node on his right arm. This "lymph node" proceeded to double in size every few weeks and he ended up having a biopsy around December. The biopsy showed embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma which is incredibly rare in adults with very little known about effective treatment plans. Because my dad lives in rural West Virginia he has had to start frequent travel to Huntington, WV and to Pittsburg, PA. He has now had 3 rounds of chemo with rounds anticipated every 3 weeks for at least 14 treatments. However, last week repeat CT scans showed nodules in his lungs that were not there in January and the right arm tumor continues to grow. They are changing the chemo regimen, planning a lung wedge biopsy to confirm diagnosis, and plan for radiation and surgery. He will most likely have to stay in Pittsburg for the duration of his radiation treatments which will incur burdunsome amounts of expense over a period of a couple months.

The reasons we are seeking fundraising help includes: medical copays and expenses, extensive travel, lodging during the extensive travel, and there are multiple maintenance items on their home that need urgently addressed including a roof leak with water damage into their laundry room and their bridge to their driveway washed out in a flood requiring them to have to cross the yard to the neighbors house to get to the road.

To those that know my dad, he is the most giving and loving person you could know. He loves his family, his church family, and even strangers. He would be the first one to give the shirt off of his own back to those in need which is why he is very deserving of any help he receives. Thank you to everyone who donates and/or shares our dad's story!!
