** Update at the bottom **
Batman is my five-year-old Yorkie and my best friend. He’s always been by my side, giving me comfort and companionship, especially during times when I felt alone. Growing up as an only child with a mom who worked a lot, I often felt isolated, but Batman changed that. He wakes me up every morning with his little paws and kisses, and his happiness is contagious. He’s the companion I always wished for since I was three years old, and he means the world to both me and my mom here in the Bronx.
Recently, Batman became very sick and as of this morning, September 13, he cannot pee, is constantly leaking urine, and is in a lot of pain. He’s stopped eating, is vomiting, and cries from the discomfort. After visiting two different vet clinics, we learned he has stones in his bladder and a large one in his urethra. The vets said he urgently needs two surgeries tonight—a Cystotomy and a Perineal Urethrostomy—to survive. We can’t schedule the surgeries until we have the funds, and it’s heartbreaking to see him suffer while we wait.
Batman has given me so much love and joy, and I want nothing more than to see him healthy again. I look forward to taking him to the park so he can do his favorite thing—pee on every tree we pass. It may sound simple, but it’s his passion, and seeing him unable to do it breaks my heart. Any support will help us get Batman the care he needs so he can return to the happy, loving dog he’s always been.
Update: We’re So Close—Please Help Us Finish Batman’s Recovery
Batman made it through his life-saving surgery thanks to your kindness, and I truly cannot put into words how grateful I am. Because of you, he is still here with me today.
Seeing him come back to life, eating again, wagging his tail, and being his sweet, loving self has meant everything to me. After one of the scariest moments of my life, I finally have my best friend back.
I did have to put the surgery on a credit card in order to save him in time, and I’m now trying to pay off the remaining balance before interest begins on April 10. I’m about $1,500 away from covering the full cost.
If you’ve already donated, shared, or even just kept Batman in your thoughts, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you’re able to help or share his story one more time, it would mean the world to us.
Batman is back to doing what he loves most, going on walks and stopping at every tree like it’s his personal mission. Seeing him happy and pain free again is something I will never take for granted.
Thank you for helping me save my best friend.
