Help Batangas Recover from Tropical Storm Kristine

Donation protected
Tropical Storm Kristine has already caused immense damage across the northern Philippines, especially in the Province of Batangas. As of Friday, October 25th, 49 people were killed in landslides set off by Kristine's torrential downpours, bringing the overall death toll to at least 82.

At least 17 people are still missing, buried in the deep mounds of mud, boulders, and trees. To get to where they might be, rescue crews must cross Taal Lake, which is usually unsafe to cross during a regular rainstorm, rendering the rescue efforts effectively impossible for the time being.

Anything you can contribute will help support rescue efforts on the ground and provide rescue teams with the equipment necessary to help those in need.

Funds will be given directly to Cuenca Support Squad and Helping Hands, Inc., a Philippines-based organization registered with and accredited by the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Even though I am based in New York, I have been working with Cuenca for nearly three years — even before their SEC accreditation — helping raise funds whenever calamity hits Home.

In the wake of Tropical Storm Kristine, Cuenca Support Squad and Helping Hands are working tirelessly to help victims recover their livelihoods by helping them rebuild homes, schools, and fishing boats.
