Help Basmala Graduate: Just 2 Months to Go!
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Basmala Hesham, and I’m a young woman from Cairo, Egypt, currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Mediterranean Cooperation and Security at Luiss Guido Carli University in Italy. I’m now just two months away from graduating in August 2025 — a goal I’ve worked so hard for — but I’m facing financial constraints that could prevent me from completing this final and most crucial stretch. That’s why I’m reaching out today for your kind support.
Over the past several years, I’ve dedicated myself to public service, international cooperation, and community development. My most recent role has been as a Project Assistant at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), where I helped organize training workshops, coordinate with stakeholders, manage logistics, and monitor program impact. Prior to that, I interned at GIZ Egypt, where I supported the Migration for Development program by advising Egyptians on regular migration to Germany and helping organize outreach campaigns under the Life-Saving Boats initiative.
I also served as a Case Management Consultant for UNHCR’s livelihood project, assisting vulnerable refugees through needs assessments and tailored interventions. Earlier on, I worked as a Facilitator with local NGOs supporting refugee inclusion, child education, and emotional development, including at the British Council, where I helped empower both Egyptian and refugee youth through literacy and integration programs.
My studies and fieldwork have given me a strong foundation to contribute meaningfully to migration governance, youth development, and civil society in the Mediterranean region. However, finishing this degree has become increasingly difficult without financial support. The remaining costs for tuition, housing, and essential living expenses for these final two months are beyond what I can currently afford.
Your donation — no matter how small — will make a direct impact on helping me graduate and continue this path of service. With your support, I can finish my studies and return home with the skills, network, and determination to keep building bridges, supporting vulnerable populations, and strengthening cooperation across borders.
Thank you so much for reading my story. If you can contribute or share this fundraiser, I would be truly grateful.
With all my appreciation,
Basmala Hesham
