Help Basima and Her Family
Donation protected
I am a general surgery resident who went to Gaza on April 17 and met an amazing, inspirational woman named Basima. Basima is 34 years old and the mother of 4 children. During the war, she has experienced significant loss. Her workplace was bombed early in the war. Her brother's house was bombed where all of his family members including his wife and three young children (3,6,7 years old) died. Her sister's husband who was a journalist died while reporting on Gaza. Her best friend died. Her house has faced severe damage from multiple bombings that has wiped out her neighborhood. Despite all of this loss, Basima continued to volunteer at the hospital I was working at. She would leave her family everyday just to help those in critical need. Her strong, kind spirit radiated through the hospital. All the staff knew Basima due to her kind and giving nature. Even with all the loss, she has endured she still had a smile on her face. While I was in Gaza, her second brother's house was bombed and he was in critical condition at the hospital. Despite her brother's condition, Basima continued to volunteer at the hospital with me. Yesterday, Basima received notice her family needed to evacuate from her home in Rafah. With no family left, she and her family have no where to go. Even a tent is difficult to find given the current circumstances and has to be purchased. Please help Basima help her family in getting out of their currently threatened home. Basima has become a close friend of mine and I cannot live with myself if anything were to happen to her or her family. I am raising funds to help Basima find shelter and any additional funds that will not be used for this will be given to other families also looking for shelter.
