Last Sunday, what started as a normal day turned into a nightmare when I saw Basil lying in his enclosure with his face and paws covered in blood. My heart sank as he let out this god awful scream, I picked him up and he was limp. I rushed inside and called out to my wife "There's something wrong with Basil he's covered in blood!" So we urgently rushed him to the vet in our pyjamas. The scans from the vet revealed a severe internal issue that was causing bleeding in his belly. The situation was dire, and emergency surgery was the only option to save Basil's life.

Thanks to the swift and skilled actions of the veterinary team, the surgery was a success. Basil is now on the mend, but the path to recovery is long, and the medical bills have piled up far beyond what my wife and myself could have anticipated, totaling over $26,688.10. We have insurance thank God but that only covers 60% of the cost, we've paid just over $3,000 but we're scraping together whatever else we can for the rest. After just getting married and coming back from our honeymoon two weeks ago we unfortunately have no savings.
