Hello. My name is Breanna Leonard and I live in Dallas, Texas. I am raising money on behalf of Bashar and his brother, Abdulhamid. This will help Bashar and Abdulhamid to evacuate Gaza and receive medical treatment abroad. All donations will be transferred directly to Bashar.
Bashar’s Message:
I am Bashar from Gaza. I am 20 years old. I was a university student before the war. I was studying engineering at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. My dream was to study engineering, to graduate from university, and to establish a future for myself and my family. I had dreams and a beautiful future ahead of me.
This is a photo of me before the war.
My dreams and my future were destroyed by the war. My family's home was bombed over our heads and collapsed on top of us. My brother and I were both injured. My aunt and my cousins were killed.
Our home was a shelter for us, but now it is destroyed. We have been searching for a place to live, but we cannot find one. My family has been displaced more than 8 times now, and each time we are displaced without anything.
This is me after my home was bombed.
My brother, Abdulhamid, needs surgery to repair his shoulder. He cannot do this operation in Gaza. He has been waiting for medical evacuation for over one year now, but only a small number of evacuations are taking place because the borders are closed.
It is possible for my brother and I to leave Gaza on our own, but there is a fee of $5,000 per person to cross the border to Egypt. For my brother and I to evacuate together, we will need to raise $10,000.
Once we evacuate, we will need to pay for visa processing fees, flights, and medical treatment abroad.
This is me with my brother, Abdulhamid.
Every day, the situation in Gaza is getting more difficult. We are suffering from famine. Food has become very expensive, and I cannot afford it. It is very dangerous trying to get aid, but I will have to keep risking death for a small amount of aid if I do not evacuate soon. I recently became sick from malnutrition.
The number of people being killed is increasing every day. The past two nights, we could not sleep at all because of bombing and shooting near our camp. We had to lie down and hide so the bullets would not hit us. Every day, we live in fear that we will be killed.
This is a photo I took of a bombing nearby.
I ask you with all humility to please help me and my brother raise the money we need to evacuate. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to safety.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring about me and my family. Your support means a lot to us.
