This past week my dad was hospitalized due to abdominal pain that he had been dealing with since late December. My dad is uninsured and like many uninsured people he does not have a primary doctor. He kept on being diagnosed with gases. Multiple times and multiple doctors did not give him a blood work test or urine test and sent him home with gas relief pills. This week on Feb 4th the pain got so bad that we had to take him to the E.R. He was then at the hospital for a couple of days until they did every possible test where he was diagnosed with cancer.
My dad has cancer in the lining of his entire abdominal wall, in his colon and possibly in other intestines. We are waiting for more results to come in to tell us how far along his cancer is and to tell us what the plan can or can’t be.
My dad is the main source of income in the family household. He and my mom live pay check to pay check and now he has not worked for about a month nor will he go back to work any time soon. Our family, my mother, little sisters and brother are feeling the weight of the world on our shoulders.
We understand this is only the beginning of our fight. The support/funds we are asking for right now are to simply help our family stay afloat with our livelihood expenses (rent, food, electric, gas bill, etc) as we know the fight that is to come will be even more difficult. Esta semana mi papá fue hospitalizado debido a un dolor abdominal con el que había estado lidiando desde fines de diciembre. Mi papá no tiene seguro de salud y, como muchas personas sin seguro, no tiene un médico de cabecera. Siguió siendo diagnosticado con gases. Varias veces y varios médicos no le hicieron un análisis de sangre o de orina y lo enviaron a su casa con pastillas de alivio de gases. Esta semana, el 4 de febrero, el dolor empeoró tanto que tuvimos que llevarlo a la sala de emergencias. Luego estuvo en el hospital durante un par de días hasta que le hicieron todas las pruebas posibles donde le diagnosticaron cáncer.
Mi papá tiene cáncer en el revestimiento de toda su pared abdominal, en 2 partes de su colon y posiblemente en otros intestinos. Estamos esperando que lleguen más resultados para decirnos qué tan avanzado está su cáncer y para decirnos cuál puede ser el plan.
Mi papá es el principal fuente de ingresos en nuestra familia. Él y mi madre viven de cheque a cheque. El ahora no ha trabajado durante aproximadamente un mes ni volverá a trabajar pronto. Nuestra familia, mi mamá, mis hermanas y mi hermano sentimos el peso del mundo sobre nuestros hombros.
Entendemos que esto es solo el comienzo de nuestra lucha. El apoyo / fondos que estamos pidiendo en este momento es simplemente para ayudar a nuestra familia a mantenerse a flote con nuestros gastos de vida (renta, comida, bill de electricidad y gas, etc.) ya que sabemos que la lucha que se acerca será aún más difícil.
