The Woman Who Gave Me Everything: Help Me Give Her Care

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is Saira I am the second eldest daughter of Bartola Mingueta—a loving daughter, sister, wife, woman, mother of six, and grandmother to five.

I’m currently a full-time student at Columbia University, living a dream made possible by the lifelong sacrifices, resilience, and unconditional love of my mother and father. My mother has always carried our family with strength and grace—but now, she needs us more than ever.

In early January, we received a letter telling us that my mother was breast cancer free. Just two weeks later, we were blindsided with devastating news: she had been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer (stage 4). Since then, her health has been rapidly declining. To make matters worse, due to bureaucracy and failures in the healthcare system, my mother’s care has been delayed and disrupted at every turn. Appointments pushed back, critical tests postponed, and life-saving support tangled in red tape—while her condition continues to worsen. Her doctors and oncologists have told us that chemotherapy and radiation will not help her at this stage.

We are now seeking alternative and holistic treatments at City of Hope (a provider outside the network) to give her the best possible quality of life—treatments that allow her to heal spiritually, emotionally, and physically. These approaches are not covered by insurance, and my family needs your support to make them possible.

My mother deserves comfort, peace, and a chance at healing.

If you are able, please consider donating or sharing this page. Every act of support—no matter the size—brings us closer to helping the woman who has given so much to so many.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

With love and hope,
Saira

Saira
