Help Bart Beat Metastatic Prostate Cancer

Hi, my name is Corinne (Cori) Maynard, and I am going to tell you about the love of my life...Bart Maynard. He is my husband and my best friend. Bart is one of the hardest-working people I know. He is a force that is hard to control and refuses to slow down. Even when he felt pain in his back, he chalked it up to his fast-paced work style of tending to livestock and all that entails. He finally decided to make an appointment to have his back looked at because he could not "tough it out" any longer. Well after getting X-rays and CT scans, they decided they didn't. like what they saw. Bart was then scheduled for more testing, consisting of blood tests, biopsies and a Pet Scan, his life changed forever. He was diagnosed on December 6, 2022, with Metastatic Prostate Cancer (Stage 4), which means his cancer has spread outside of the prostate and it has attacked his lymph nodes and his spine (hence the back pain). With the weakening of his spine, he was told to take it easy because he could easily break his back with a wrong move. He has had 5 radiation treatments on his spine, these treatments were very hard on Bart because of the irritation of his esophagus caused by this. It caused him to struggle to swallow so he was not able to eat very well. Bart has now started his Chemotherapy sessions. And with that comes more challenges. He has so much discomfort it is hard for him to rest. And with Chemotherapy, his sense of taste has deteriorated, so food and drink are unpleasant. The two most important concepts of eating well and plenty of rest have been hard to accomplish, so please keep Bart in your prayers. Bart is looking at at least 18 weeks of Chemotherapy and if Bart is strong enough with no complications, potentially radiation will be scheduled for the prostate. After getting the news that he was to start cancer treatments, he had a strong mindset and he was convinced that he was able to still work. But with the news of the weakened spine and learning about all the cancer treatments, reality set in and he found out that working was not an option. And at this point now all of his energy has gone into trying to get through the day. Any financial help or prayers you can contribute at this time of need would be greatly appreciated. We thank you all so much for your support. Sincerely, Bart & Cori Maynard
UPDATE: Bart is still doing his chemotherapy treatments and he is not recovering very well before the next scheduled chemo treatment. He is in a lot of pain, his body hurts. But most of all his back is doing a number on him, he just cannot get relief. He still is not sleeping very well. He gets winded easily and has to rest for a while (time to recover).

He also had a lot of skin changes that had us going to the dermatologist to check for skin cancer. No cancer was found however the doctor scheduled surgery to remove the Lipomas that are creating havoc on the nerves in his legs. Surgery will be on May 8th after the last scheduled chemotherapy appointment. We will find out about more radiation after scans. He is trying to stay positive and take one day at a time, hoping that all these treatments will work and he becomes pain-free, but most of all cancer-free. I am asking for prayers and positive thoughts to come his way. Thank you all so much for reaching out, sending cards, and helping out financially, we are truly blessed to have family and friends that are supporting Bart in his time of need. Love to you all. Sincerely, Cori
