Greetings Friends!!
Life can change in an instant, and for our dear friend and beloved musician, Barry Seelen, it did.
On August 20, 2025. Barry suffered a severe stroke that left him with left-sided paralysis
and significant challenges with speech and memory. Since that day, he has shown incredible courage and unwavering determination as he fights his way toward recovery.
Barry’s journey has been long and difficult. After a month at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX. where he underwent a complex cerebral artery bypass surgery to restore blood flow to his brain, he spent another month at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital.
He is now continuing his intensive therapy at the Neuro Restorative Rehabilitation Center, with plans to transition to outpatient rehab early next year.
Every day, he works tirelessly to regain strength, mobility, and independence. He is now able to walk with a cane and luckily has full use of his right hand, working diligently to bring his left hand back to life, driven by his dream to play music again.
Barry is a graduate of the Hart School of Music and a lifelong performer whose talent, warmth, and generous spirit have touched countless people.
His musical journey began in his home
state of Connecticut, where he played with iconic groups including The Midnight Sun, Max Creek, Matt “Guitar” Murphy, Greg Piccolo, The Mighty Sam McClain, Jaimoe of the Allman Brothers Band, and Chris Tofield and the Blues Benders.
After moving to Houston, TX. Barry continued to share his gifts with audiences across the country and the world, performing with artists such as Anika Chambers, Josh Garrett, and many others.
Wherever Barry plays, his music lifts hearts, and his kindness lifts everyone around him.
Now, it’s our turn to lift him.
Barry’s recovery has come with enormous physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Between medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and months of lost income, the burden has become overwhelming.
We are asking for donations to help Barry cover his ongoing care and living expenses so he can focus fully on healing and returning to the music he loves.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings Barry closer to recovery and reminds him that he is not alone on this journey.
If you’ve ever been moved by Barry’s music, or by the light and laughter he brings into every room, please consider donating and sharing this campaign.
Together, we can help him rebuild his life and, one day soon, watch him take the stage again with that same joy and soul we all know and love.
With gratitude, hope and love,
Marco and Kellie
