My name is Gary English, and I am Barry’s twin brother. I am reaching out with love and hope to ask for your help in giving Barry a better quality of life.
Barry is 73 years old, born and raised in Danville, Pennsylvania, and still lives in our family homestead. Over the past six months, his health has declined significantly. He has endured multiple ER visits and hospital stays at Geisinger Medical Center, including a critical admission this November after a fall at home that left him in intensive care. His diagnoses include E. coli bacteremia, stage 4 kidney disease, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, sepsis/shock, carotid atherosclerosis, and severe spinal stenosis. After weeks in the hospital and rehabilitation, Barry continues to face daily challenges.
Even simple tasks like getting dressed, tying his shoes, or moving around the house with his walker are difficult. Because he cannot climb stairs, Barry is confined to the lower level of his home. Unfortunately, the only bathroom is upstairs, making daily life extremely hard and unsafe.
We are asking for your support to raise $8,500–$11,000 to install a handicap-accessible bathroom on the lower level of Barry’s home. This will allow him to live with dignity, independence, and safety. As his twin brother and power of attorney, I will ensure that every dollar raised goes directly toward the installation.
Barry has always had a good heart. Years ago, he opened his home to people in need, even when they did not contribute or care for the space. Despite those hardships, he has remained generous and kind. Now, he needs the community’s kindness in return.
Your gift will make a real difference in Barry’s life—helping him regain comfort, safety, and peace in his own home. Whether it’s a small donation or simply sharing this page, every act of support brings us closer to giving Barry the dignity he deserves.
Thank you for reading Barry’s story and for considering helping him on this long road to recovery.
