My name is Barrett Carter and I am requesting your help.
On May 20, 2025, my life (and others) were forever changed when I and my girlfriend, Katana, were driving on Capital Boulevard to a friend’s home. When suddenly a car approached us driving the wrong way on Capital Boulevard struck us head-on. The Crash killed Katana and left me hospitalized with various fractures to my foot, legs, hip, elbow, sternum, ribs, and lung injuries.
At WakeMed, I had multiple surgeries and, after about 30 bedridden days. I was discharged to find my world turned upside down with the loss of the love of my life, my ability to work, and over $300,000 in medical debt and no health insurance.
I’ve depleted my finances and recently learned that the wrong-way driver’s auto insurance policy has a maximum of $100,000 of coverage for all claims including my claim, Katana’s family’s claim, and the claims in a third car struck in the crash – nowhere near enough to cover my losses let alone Katana’s family’s losses.
I’ve attached a photo taken by the tow truck operator confirming the legitimacy of my situation.
I am seeking your donations to assist with my living expenses, debt, and transportation to and from medical appointments.
Thank you for considering my requests and any donation you make.
