I’m disabled, with treatment-resistant lymphoma developed from the use of years of immunosuppressive medicines taken to maintain an organ transplant. Some of the cancer drugs have caused me to develop bone and spine issues, causing great pain and limiting my capacity in many. My cancer is diffuse and results in a myriad of painful and difficult circumstances

Unfortunately, I find myself without prescription drug coverage. The medicine I take for various conditions tends to be expensive, with several in the thousands of dollars. Because of my unusual combination of conditions, most chemotherapies and traditional courses are unavailable—as my body isn’t able to tolerate them or they’d be ineffective. The treatments I can take are almost never covered under insurance of any kind, and often require me to travel hard distances—with the closest center for one treatment method almost an hour away, and the nearest for another over 2.5 hours.

I don’t have reliable transportation or the ability to pay for these treatments.

I’m also thousands of dollars in debt due to medical procedures that either haven’t helped, or have made things worse. I have three young children who deserve more than I can give them.

Simply put my life is impossible. I need help. I don’t know how I will survive without it. I developed an infection in my mouth earlier this year which turned absurdly dangerous because of my immunocompromised status. The doctor asked me how I could allow such a situation to persist given the fragility of my situation.

I told him the required dental work was over a thousand dollars. I’m already not taking medicine prescribed to me and treatments I’m supposed to be undergoing because I simply can’t afford or access them. It was just another of a dozen impossible choices I make every week.

The last years of my life have been a series of tragedies that have left me helpless and nearly hopeless. Family deaths, disability, the false hope of rescue, dead dogs, a flooded house, displacement, disappointment, aid denial, bill after bill after bill with no relief in sight.

Any funds donated would help with medical expenses, prescriptions, transportation, childcare, household bills, debt, and day-to-day survival in a world that often does not seem to have a place for someone like me.

*I’ve recently suffered a surprise cardiac event that’s required hospitalization. The bill for this extended stay and subsequent treatment will be massive. On top of everything else, it’s a lot.
