Help Barley Emergency Surgery Costs
Donation protected
November 19th UPDATE!:
We are so sad to even say this because it makes it real, but Barley has cancer. She was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma, which is an aggressive cancer that develops through the blood vessels. The cancer attacked Barley’s spleen causing it to rupture and will most likely spread to all her other organs at a rapid rate.
We have an upcoming appointment with an Oncologist to see what they recommend we do but it looks like we have two options, putting Barley down peacefully while she is in the comfort of her own home, or going through with chemotherapy to prolong her life. We want to do whatever is the most humane to her situation. Thank you all for the donations, shares, and kind words during this time.
On November 11th Barley unexpectedly went into emergency surgery.
Torie noticed Barley acting strange and immediately took her to the vet which then informed her that Barley was internally bleeding and needed surgery to save her life. Torie had no choice and was required to pay $8,030.45 on the spot to even have surgery prep begin.
If you know Torie, you know Barley is her whole world and she would do anything for her. I’ve never met a person so devoted to their dog. But the financial burden of this surgery cost is a lot for any person to carry.
I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister because she never asks for help but is constantly and selflessly helping others around her. I know she needs support right now and even the smallest donation or share would mean the world to both of us.
Barley is the sweetest, most loving dog there is and everyone who has met her knows there’s something special about her. As of this morning, November 12, Barley has woken up from surgery and is in stable condition. She’s still in the hospital being monitored and it’s very possible she will need to stay an additional night which will be an additional large cost along with multiple check ups.
We found out her spleen ruptured from a large tumor, which caused a heavy amount of internal bleeding. Barley lost over two liters of blood and required a blood transfusion and removal of her spleen. We are lucky she is alive.
The doctor found no other signs of tumors besides the one on Barley’s spleen, which is currently being tested for cancer. We are hoping with everything we have that the tumor was benign and will update you all as information rolls in. After she is able to heal a bit from surgery we will have to get x-rays/ultra sounds to make sure she doesn’t have any other tumors in her body. Until then, we truly appreciate the support to cover these large unexpected costs.
