Our brother, Friend and colleague Bariaw ( sisay Girma) is Ok for now…

It’s been almost 8 months since he fell sick and exactly 3 months since he got diagnosed with high grade glioma/ glioblastoma. All this time, he has been trying to deal with his medical condition and the financial burden it comes with, on his own. Bariaw who is only 35 yrs old, is not only a colleague but a husband and a father who always thrives to achieve more in life. He has devoted more than a decade of his life teaching and mentoring Midwifery students and heading the department. He was and is an inspiration to many of us who had no idea what the Midwifery was about. His warm and funny, never changing personality always leaves a smile on anybody’s face whoever comes across him.

Now, He is forced to stop working due to the progression of his illness. He is currently in Addis Ababa, waiting for Hospital bed at Black Lion. In the meantime, he is taking different medications to help with the symptoms and slow down the tumor growth which has taken a heavy toll on him, his wife and young son financially.

Due to the prognosis related to glioblastoma, time is of the essence. I urge you all to show Bariaw, he is not alone in this and any financial assist you make through go fund me will go directly to Bariaw’s medical costs.
