Barbara (Schultz) Kaplus is my big sister and only sister. Most people who meet her will say she is a nice person and a great storyteller. She loves music, especially the Band, and can tell you just about anything about Bob Dylan’s backup band. For over 25 years, she has worked at A’s home center in Wall Twp, where she is a tireless worker and a valued employee.

Barbara lost her husband Neil, the love of her life, about five years ago. For the last ten years of Neil’s life, Barbara was his caregiver while also working. As a lesson to us all who collect Medicare, or one day will, Barbara did not choose Plan B, which would have covered 80% of the PET scan she now urgently needs. I recently stayed with her for about 12 days, trying to keep her spirits up as she faces the fight of her life. She has a loving son, daughter-in-law, a grandson, and a granddaughter who call her “Ebah.”

Barbara’s cancer is spreading, and she needs a PET scan as soon as possible. The money raised will go toward this scan and any other medical expenses she faces. I am not ready to say goodbye to my sister. If you can find it in your heart to help, even a dollar or two could go a long way for covering expenses.
